Two Track Acres Blog is now public!!!!
Two Track Acres is an alternate energy powered family farm that is currently under construction, in the hearts and minds of the Blossingham Family. Follow our journey from on the grid average citizens to off-the-grid homesteaders.
The Manistee location for our sustainable living project has not only been purchased, but I am happy to report that we are living the dream within city limits. Slowly and gradually we are going to reduce our dependence on municipal resources until ultimately we will be totally free of them.
Our newest addition to the Two Track project is a 4X4 red cedar raised bed garden that is currently flourishing under the abundance sunlight and recent rains that Manistee has had to offer. Current crop is:
Three types of tomatoes
Three types of peppers
Snap peas and soon lettuce.
Thanks for stopping by, more updates to follow.
Keep on Two Tracking!
The rumors of my green demise have been greatly exagerated! I am now the owner of a solar panel array, including all the bells and whistles (inverter, charge controller, etc). This will be one of the greenest innovations that will be introduced to the new “Project Manistee” house. Raised flower beds for our vegetable garden, and a vertical wind generator (depending on local ordinances) are also instore. stay tuned, things should really be heating here in the next few weeks.
Be green and prosper,
It’s been a month or so since I last posted, have been busy with setting up real estate deals just to see them fall apart in dramatic fashion. I’m not shaken by the experience, just putting the finishing touches on a home purchase that will allow my family to live within our means and in the fashion that we long for.
Please stay tuned for updates and project pics which should be coming very soon.
–Two Track for Life
One of the considerations that I had for purchasing a house within the City Limits of Manistee was the close proximity to my work, my children’s future schools, and the convenience that it has for my young family. Although raising animals isn’t an option for this new house, I plan on purchasing 10+ acres to have my own Micro-farm Garden.
When making a decision that will affect the future of so many, its not without hesitation or second thoughts; if you didn’t do these things you’d be a fool. But in life there are moments of clarity in your life where Fear and worry cannot be in the majority, you must make your dreams a reality because this life is finite (a fixed amount of time.) I don’t want regrets in my mind when I am approaching the “Dead Zone” (that age, specific to each family, where everyone else before you died and you really don’t have a reason to think you’ll be the first to make it further), but rather relief that I took the swings at the pitches I thought best could give me a home run. You can’t hit home runs without swinging. I’m looking forward to becoming a part of the community, Manistee is a city on the move and I see it becoming more and more efficient as time continues.
I had to ask myself, “what’s more wasteful? Driving 20 minutes each way to just go to the store, or walking two blocks to do the exact same errand?”
I’m looking forward, not backward, and that is what defines me as being different. That’s what gives me faith; the kind of faith that accomplishes things, not the kind of faith that is more of a concept than a real force in your life. Removing religion from it all, I have faith that the universe wants me to be happy, to be healthy, to be abundant.
You know what I say to that?
Bring on the abundance!!!
I have a home picked out and am in the middle of negotiations for purchasing it, already making plans to introduce some modern self-sufficiency into this “old house.”
From upgrading the wiring and the boiler heating system, to planting vegetable raised beds in the backyard, the house will offer us a healthy compromise. A sophisticated chic for my wife and a self-sufficient efficiency for me, both of which are expected to make the two of us very happy.
Watch for more updates, will have news within the week.–TB
I’m looking for the world changers, the barnburners, the guerilla gardners and their seed filled water balloons. I’m calling out to the revolutionaries, the awkward lightning in a bottle, the desperate thinkers, the bleeding hearts, the ones that think they can and will change the world for the better.
Get off your asses, right now. I challenge you to reply, to post, to share what you think needs to happen in order for this world to be unscrewed.
You are the solution, you are the first pebble to be tossed. Make waves, do good work, and think outside of the box.
